October 8, 2024 – Moms For America, a nationwide network of hundreds of thousands of moms, issued the following statement today condemning the Michigan Supreme Court’s refusal to overturn a lower court’s ruling shielding the work product of public employees – in this case, public school teachers – from freedom of information requests.

“Effective education requires collaboration between parents and teachers. This insane decision continues a destructive trend of cutting parents out of the educational process, undercutting the spirit of openness and trust that is vital to the success of students.

“Shrouding curriculum in secrecy is not good for students, teachers, or parents. It only serves the interests of activists who seek to politicize the classroom to advance a radical agenda. These activists know that their efforts cannot survive if parents know the truth about the propaganda they are feeding our children, which is why they are fighting so hard to keep us in the dark.

Founded in 2004, Moms for America is a national, non-profit 501c3 educational corporation rooted on the principles of liberty and virtue our nation was founded on, and focused on promoting these principles, values, and virtues in the home and family, particularly through the women and mothers of America.

MILWAUKEE, July 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Moms For America will have a robust presence at the Republican National Convention this week, including multiple speakers on the main stage.

“Moms know exactly what’s at stake in this election, and we’re determined to fight for our families and our values,” said Deb Kraulidis, Vice President of Moms For America and host of the MFA podcast. “Faith, family, and freedom are our guiding values, and all of them are going to be on the ballot in November. That’s why we’re mobilizing an army of moms to turn out to vote for the best interests of their children and their families.”

Kraulidis will be among the MFA leaders speaking on the main stage in Milwaukee when she leads the Pledge of Allegiance to kick off the convention. Later that day, Moms For America Action Executive Director Vanessa Faura will address the convention in prime time with a speech about her personal experience as a legal immigrant achieving her American Dream.

“This economy is not working for millions upon millions of American families, and rampant inflation is hurting women – especially moms,” Faura said. “Moms want leaders who understand the issues that affect us and our families, and who will implement solutions that work for us.”

By Sean Salai – The Washington Times – Thursday, June 27, 2024

Most transgender surgeries in 2019 involved adult patients and teenagers aged 15 to 17, a new study finds.

Writing Thursday in JAMA Network Open, several Harvard University public health researchers analyzed the insurance records of 47.4 million adults and 22.8 million minors. They found that 5.3 out of every 100,000 adults underwent gender-transition surgeries in 2019, compared to 2.1 out of every 100,000 teenagers aged 15 to 17.

Only 0.1 out of every 100,000 adolescents aged 13 to 14 had sex-change procedures that year, and no surgeries occurred among children 12 and younger.

“Our study shows that use of gender-affirming surgeries among trans adolescents is very low, and among minors 12 years and younger, not happening at all,” said co-author Dannie Dai, a research data analyst at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health who is nonbinary.

The study also found that 80% or 507 out of 636 breast reduction surgeries performed on adults involved biological men suffering from gynecomastia, a hormonal imbalance that results in swollen breast tissue. Among minors, 97% or 146 out of 151 breast reductions in 2019 happened for the same reason.

“Thus, these findings suggest that concerns around high rates of gender-affirming surgery use, specifically among [transgender and gender-fluid] minors, may be unwarranted,” the researchers wrote.

According to the researchers, they conducted the study in response to a growing number of states that have moved to ban gender-transition treatments for minors. They noted that the Supreme Court is scheduled to rule this fall on the validity of such laws, which have cropped up in 23 states from Arizona to Florida.

The study did not include self-paid treatments, however. Researchers also pointed to a lack of national data on sex-change procedures among children under 12, reflecting international guidelines that do not recommend gender transitions for prepubescent children.

The findings come as transgender surgery for minors has become a political flashpoint leading up to November’s election, with the Biden administration pushing to expand access and insurance coverage.

On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that unsealed court documents showed the Biden administration lobbied international officials to remove age limits on hormone treatments, mastectomies, breast augmentation and genital surgeries.

The documents filed in an Alabama courthouse showed that Health and Human Services Adm. Rachel Levine, who was born male, expressed concerns that limiting the procedures to teenagers would “affect access to health care for trans youth.”

Conservatives have argued that gender-transition procedures performed on minors constitute “sexual assault” and “child abuse.” On Thursday, they blasted the Harvard-led study for minimizing those concerns.

“This study appears to be an attempt by the complicit medical establishment to tell everyone to ’look away, there’s nothing to see here’ when it comes to mutilating kids,” said Katy Talento, an epidemiologist who served in the Trump administration as the White House Domestic Policy Council’s top health adviser.

While transgender and nonbinary people make up less than 1% of the U.S. population, conservative states have also passed education laws banning biological males from competing in girls’ sports and restricting gender identity lessons in public schools.

On the other side, the District of Columbia and 16 liberal states from California to New York have passed so-called “shield laws” protecting youth access to transgender medical treatments.

Nationwide, public school districts have enacted policies allowing K-12 students to identify as transgender or nonbinary in class without parental knowledge.

Pride Month, an annual commemoration of the June 1969 Stonewall riots that the gay community organized in New York City’s Greenwich Village, has embraced trans issues as part of a shift away from its traditional focus on gay marriage.

Since the Supreme Court legalized same-sex unions over a decade ago, corporate America and progressive activists have come to emphasize the right of children to transition from their birth sex into other gender identities.

“This trend is a clear sign of changing times and the need for human evolution,” Gareth Gallagher, a Los Angeles-based LGBT event planner, told The Washington Times. “Ultimately, the spirit that lives on within us should guide us, not outdated traditional structures.”

Gregory T. Angelo, president of the right-leaning New Tolerance Campaign, said recent cultural shifts validate concerns about transgender procedures spreading to younger children.

“If the number of children under 12 undergoing gender transition surgeries is near-zero, then no one should have a problem formally banning it for that age bracket,” said Mr. Angelo, a former head of the Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative LGBT group.

As the election approaches, conservatives have emphasized polling that suggests most people support limiting sex change operations to adults.

In a survey that the Clare Boothe Luce Center for Conservative Women and the polling firm KAConsulting released in March, 71% of women aged 18-24 agreed that children should wait for adulthood “before having irreversible sex-change surgeries.”

Kimberly Fletcher, president of the conservative Moms for America, said Thursday’s study failed to capture the surging number of teens who have rejected their biological sex since 2019.

She said popular culture and the educational system have invited more and more children to question whether they “feel comfortable” in their bodies and to make changes if they don’t.

“What child between 11 and 14 feels comfortable in their body? They are launching mental and emotional warfare on our children,” Ms. Fletcher said. “It is child abuse at the highest level.”

Panels are dominated by those who care more about union agenda than our children

By Kimberly Fletcher – Monday, June 17, 2024

OPINION:
Conservative school board members are under attack.

The left is proving once again that they will not respect people’s privacy or legal rights. Courageous people who are holding back the tide of radicalism in public schools face threats and harassment.

Recently, we have seen attacks on Chad Green in Texas, Robert Wojtowicz in Michigan, Darbi Boddy in Ohio and Tony Mays in Colorado. These are all exemplary school board members who aim to serve the students’ best interest in their districts. In the past few years, we have witnessed an unprecedented grassroots movement to take back our school boards. For too long, school boards have been dominated by activists who care more about the teachers unions’ politicized agenda than our children’s best interests.

After our public schools’ disastrous and unnecessary shutdowns in 2020, parents wanted their children back in school learning math and reading. No more Zoom classes and no far-left indoctrination in the curriculum.

Many of Moms for America’s members were willing to step up and run for office. Through our partnership with the National School Boards Leadership Council, or NSBLC, we have equipped parents to run for office and implement commonsense policy changes that support the best interests of students.

We have made huge strides in electing parents and grandparents who put the interests of children above the political maneuvering of the radical leftist teachers unions. In many school districts, including some of the largest in Texas, parents flipped notoriously left-wing school boards.

Now that we have won so much ground, we face a new threat: School board members are being threatened. Teachers unions’ new tactic is to spend large amounts of money recalling good school board members who prioritize high-quality education and student success.

We have seen this time and again. When Marxist agitators fail to maintain control, they turn to intimidation and violence. Take the example of Scott Henry, trustee and now president of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Texas. Activists dissatisfied with Mr. Henry’s successful efforts to focus on educating children sent him death threats, and reporters posted themselves outside his family’s home.

In addition, activists identified Mr. Henry’s employer, based in California, and ensured that he was fired for advocating commonsense policy on the school board.

It will not stop there. Mr. Henry has refused to resign from his duly elected position and continues to serve his community. His example of courage is commendable. Now, however, other board members are likely to face the same persecution.

Unlike the career activists of the teachers unions and their leftist cronies, our patriotic moms and dads on the school boards have employment outside their roles as public servants. The activists know this. In a recent Facebook post, a commenter said the quiet part out loud when he wrote: “You need leverage to get them to resign. They should all have careers outside of their board position and families. Start there.”

With emerging information about the obscene materials available in public school classrooms and libraries, parents are increasingly calling on school boards to align with the priorities of groups like Moms for America’s partner NSBLC. Parents understand that the priority must be academic learning in a competitive environment. “Woke” identity politics have no place in a taxpayer-funded school.

And yet as more parents are calling on school boards to affirm the action items of groups like the NSBLC, political operatives on the boards are rejecting them. In a Jan. 11 meeting of the school board in Milford, Ohio, Moms for America was accused of radicalism, and the NSBLC was rejected without discussion.

When pushed, progressives on the school board will claim that the school board cannot partner with any “politicized” organization. But the NSBLC has documented the clear politicization of school boards. The Coalition of State School Board Associations, known or COSSBA, which began after the National School Board Association, or NSBA, became too politically entrenched, is a perfect example. Despite the name change, the goals of the COSSBA have come to align almost perfectly with those of the NSBA.

These goals include many items related to entitlement programs, mental health and social services, but not much about actual education. The COSSBA and NSBA seem more concerned with getting children on computers than ensuring they know math and reading, despite the demonstrated negative outcomes of screen time on children’s development.

While the COSSBA continues to tell school boards it is unethical to allow special interest groups to influence them, there are clearly special interest groups in charge already. Moms for America and the NSBLC seek to equip parents with the tools to advocate for their children. Parents want schools to teach math, reading and writing – and that desire should not be controversial.

The silent majority wants our schools to leave politics at the door and get back to educating. Now that courageous parents are running for the school board — and winning – progressive radicals in the system are trying to intimidate and silence them. More parents need to become aware of the issues and enter the fight.

Our children’s future depends on our actions today.
